Grass Fire Turned Structure Fire

On Friday, June 29, 2012, at approximately 5:07 a.m. two engines and two brush trucks from Garland City Fire Department responded to a grass fire at 286 East Factory Street, Garland Utah.  Upon arrival, a garage at 312 East Factory was fully engulfed. 13 firefighters battled the blaze.

According to the Garland Fire Department and Greg Martz, Box Elder County fire marshal, hot embers from a neighbors BBQ grill fell into the dry grass and started the fire. The fire then worked its way through dry grass where it ignited the garage.  Damages were estimated at $20,000.
