Garland Fire is accepting applications on a continual basis for firefighters/EMTs.
Garland is a paid on call department and we pay for training. Hourly wage is dependent on certifications. Minimum, you will need to have or be willing to get your Fire I/II certification and EMT/AEMT certification within a couple years. We usually drill once a week on Thursday nights.
You can also get your wildland certification/red card and earn additional wages on wildland fires throughout the summer months as well.
Being completely honest, there is definitely a commitment to being involved with the fire department. Calls come at all hours of the day and night, holidays, birthdays, family supper and all the other inconvenient times you can think of. We are serious about training. We train so we all go home after a call. We try to keep it as minimal as possible, but when opportunities come up we try to take advantage of them.
So, if you like to do some good in the community that you live in, help your neighbors in their time of need then contact us. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. We’ll be happy to show anyone around the department anytime.
